Traditionally known for his humorous and thought provoking paintings that address such issues as gross consumerism, school violence, and societal pressures, artist Michael Mararian has also expanded his focus to include sculptural works made of felt where eeveryday items such as plungers and cameras are meticulously recreated and brought to “fuzzy” life, creating for the viewer, a whimsical stage of contradiction and amazement.
Most recently, however, his work has expanded even further into include performance art where he bakes a dessert every week and wears vintage outfits under the moniker “Polyester Bakes” . A career choice that found him on the national stage in a recent appearance on Gordon Ramsay’s baking show “Next Level Baker”, which premiered in 2025.
He did terribly on it.
